Accounting Manager

Compensation: $65-$85/hr, depending on experience

San Diego, CA- (Hybrid 3 days/week in office)

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support
• Review accounting documentation and schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies
• Supervise and develop a small accounting team, providing mentorship, direction, and performance support
• Assist with integration activities related to acquisitions and support efforts to standardize accounting processes across entities
• Collaborate with finance, operations, and cross-functional teams to address accounting matters and support business objectives
• Help improve operational efficiency and maintain consistency within a highly manual ERP environment
• Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements and stronger internal controls
• Ensure deadlines and deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA designation preferred
• Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles and month-end close procedures
• Previous experience leading or supervising accounting staff
• Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting documentation
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-changing environment
• Experience with acquisition integrations, ERP transitions, or accounting process improvement initiatives is a plus
• Ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with broader operational and strategic initiatives
