Accounting Supervisor

Kratos is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join the Corporate team at their San Diego location. This position is an onsite position with the potential for a hybrid work schedule after completing on-site training.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:Manages the development, implementation and/or maintenance of one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Revenue Reconciliation, Cash Flows, etc. in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures. Designs operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency. Ensures integration of data produced into systems and supports objectives of financial analysts. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and revenue. Participates in annual audits and special projects. May work with external consultants or auditors to provide required information and ensure proper recordkeeping for historical purposes. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. This position requires the ability to obtain security clearance, if needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Receives assignmen.ts based on incremental objectives and defined processes. • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. • Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. • Recommends changes to sub-unit, unit or focus policies. • Takes actions to monitor and manage costs related to a department. • Experienced understanding of business line and a basic understanding of the overall company.• Works on issues requiring the analysis of data, relevant factors and resolves problems. • Exercises judgment and interpretation to help define procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.• Develops and manages routine operational plans. • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules. • Meets targets typically against a monthly plan.• Interacts with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups. • Interaction requires interpreting and explaining information to audiences familiar with the subject. • Gains cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or programs.• Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, lab assistants, designers, support personnel). • Acts as guide to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. • Provides input and contributes to managing costs related to a unit or subunit.• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:• Senior level accounting experience.• Supervisory or team lead experience.• Detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy and maintaining data quality. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.• Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.• Ability to identify process improvements to improve efficiency.• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite• Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.• Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.• Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment and changes, and more.• Ability to obtain security clearance, if needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related major • 7+ years progressive accounting experience• 2+ years supervisory or team lead experience• CPA preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• Office Environment• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
