HEALTH SERVICES SPECIALIST (SAFETY)

Health Services Specialist (Safety) Under the direction of the Nurse Administrator (NA) or Assistant Coordinator of Nursing Services (ACNS) in a state hospital, the Health Services Specialist (HSS) monitors, assesses, and recommends maintenance of quality nursing services with primary emphasis on the physical care needs of clients/patients on an assigned shift. The HSS ensures education and training in nursing care is provided to unit personnel and performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Ongoing monitoring, assessing, and making recommendations for maintenance of quality nursing services. Provide education and training to unit personnel. Perform duties assigned by the NA or ACNS. Qualifications Willingness to work in any unit/program and any shift to meet facility needs. Permanent civil service status or eligibility for civil service examination. Must meet all minimum qualifications stated in the classification specification. Drug screening, background investigation, and medical clearance required prior to hiring. California Registered Nurse license required; provide copy of license prior to hiring.
