Job Summary PRN ROTATE The Dietary Cook prepares food for various areas of the department. Other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities General Functions: Prepares food for cafeteria and/or patient services and other areas as assigned. Follows standardized recipes. Works as a grill cook in cafeteria if needed. Preps food for production as assigned. Prepares salads and desserts according to standardized recipes Handles the preparation of the food in accordance with sanitary regulations Assures that all BHS standards for safety, sanitation, and HACCP are adhered to at all times. Adheres to local, state, and federal regulations. Determines whether a product is prepared correctly and decides if it is to be served Discerns through vision (color perception) and taste the quality of prepared food items Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of all equipment used in the kitchen Understands and applies proper sanitation regulations to the daily operations of the department Checks temperature of prepared foods at various times during the day Communicates with verbal and written skills to coworkers and supervisors Assures the timely delivery of food Checks patient trays-temperature and content Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively Maintains safe work environment Participates in Performance Improvement activities Qualifications PREFERRED EDUCATION : High School Graduate or equivalent MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year of cooking experience in a restaurant or healthcare environment REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
