Places that count: - Nursing homes - Hospitals - Skilled home health agencies (Medicare-certified) - Assisted living with licensed nurses on staff Places that do not count: - Non-medical home care agencies (supervisor was a care coordinator or office manager) - Private caregiving for family or friends - Any job where your supervisor was not a licensed nurse Ohio requires Home Health Aides to have training OR supervised experience under a licensed nurse. We don't make this rule — the state does.IMPORTANT — HOW WE VERIFY YOUR EXPERIENCEOhio law requires us to verify your experience by calling your former employer directly. They confirm your dates, that you worked there 1+ year, and that your supervisor was an RN or LPN. This will not work if: - Your former employer uses The Work Number or another third-party verification service (those services only confirm basic dates — they don't confirm RN/LPN supervision, which is what Ohio requires) - The company has closed and no longer has records of your employment - They can't or won't verify the details we need If your old employer uses The Work Number, we cannot use this path for you. Both parts are in person at our Cuyahoga Falls office — we schedule a time with you. One thing we ask: our nurse drives to the office just for your test — nothing else. We take that seriously. Passed an HHA test somewhere else with 80% or higher? Show us your results. You skip it. STNAs skip the test entirely. Your license — active or expired — proves you passed.WHAT YOU'LL DO EVERY DAYGo to people's homes and help with daily life. Mostly older adults. Baths, getting dressed, meals, light cleaning, errands, companionship. This is physical work — you help people move around and you're on your feet most of the day. If you need help doing these tasks, tell us. We can talk about what might work. You do NOT give medicine or do medical tasks.
