Interview and examine patients, reviews past medical history, and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case. Make preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care or patient referral as required.

Conduct outpatient clinics making observations appropriate to the outpatients' underlying disease and treatment plan, including current symptoms.

Assure personnel requirements of employee orientation, performance appraisal, competency assessment, mandatory training requirements and individual developmental plans for training are met.

Manage department finances, prepares the annual spending plan, maintains commitment registries, reconciles the budget and pursues alternative funding sources and strategies to optimize reimbursement for services.

Serves as liaison to other agencies and programs providing services in Health Center, including county, state, and other federal programs and agencies. Works with Navajo Nation programs as needed.
