Electronic Assembly Technician - Senior Level

Apex Systems is seeking an Electronic Assembly Technician - Senior Level to support a major government contractor client located in San Antonio, TX . We are interested in speaking with qualified candidates as early as this week. Key details are outlined below.

What You'll Get to Do

• Fabricate, assemble, and operate equipment, test apparatus, test equipment, and other related tools required for the assembly of electrical and electronic systems.
• Assemble and construct electrical and electronic systems by component in accordance with engineering drawings, applying knowledge of electrical principles while using hand tools and measurement instruments.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment and circuitry, data collection devices, and analytical instrumentation using modern electronic test and measurement equipment.
• Determine material or replacement needs and establish logical repair approaches; take appropriate corrective actions and perform necessary repairs.
• Determine electronic and electromechanical system design and instrumentation requirements using limited documentation, written instructions, and verbal direction.
• Determine the appropriate sequence of operations and provide design details or recommend modifications to engineering designs as required.

• Responsible for assembling electrical and electronic equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Circuit Card Assemblies
  • Cable Assemblies
  • Enclosures and Electronic Assemblies
• Apply advanced technical knowledge and practical concepts, processes, and methods related to technical systems and components.
• Provide guidance, technical direction, analysis, and support for the fabrication, design, development, assembly, integration, testing, documentation, implementation, and sustainment of a variety of hardware, software, and integrated product solutions.
• Interface with vendor support service groups to maintain technical knowledge and resolve complex technical issues.

You'll Bring These Qualifications

• Certifications or the ability to obtain certifications with onsite trainers, including:
  • IPC JSTD001: Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies (P)
  • IPC WHMAA620: Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies (P)
  • IPCA610: Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
• Seven years of knowledge and experience interpreting engineering drawings and electrical/electronic schematics
• Seven years of education or experience assembling sheet metal fixtures and enclosures, cable assemblies, connectors, and circuit card assemblies
• Seven years of education or experience with assembling, wiring, soldering, and crimping to drawing specifications, performing modifications per engineering change notices, and conducting electrical circuit testing
• Experience in lowrate production and electronic manufacturing operations
• Experience working within ISO9000 or AS9100-certified programs
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a small team environment
• Excellent problemsolving skills

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

• Technical bachelor's degree
• Experience using an ERP system
• Experience operating a laser cutter
• Experience inventorying and maintaining a hazardous materials program
• Experience mentoring or training other technicians
