This individual will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of financial reporting, accounting operations, financial governance, controls, and statutory compliance.What you will do:Oversee the daily accounting operations of the organizationManage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare and review internal financial statementsPremium and Revenue AccountingOversee accounting for: Written premium, Earned premium, Policy fees and commissions, Premium receivablesEnsure premiums are recorded accurately by: Policy period, Product line, State or jurisdiction, Distribution channelLoss and Reserve AccountingCoordinate accounting for: Paid losses, Case reserves, Incurred but not reported reserves, Loss adjustment expensesWork with actuarial, claims, and finance teams to:: Validate reserve-related financial entries, Review reserve movementsReinsurance AccountingOversee ceded and assumed reinsurance accounting, where applicableEnsure proper recording of: Reinsurance recoverables. Ceded premiums, Commissions, Loss recoveries, Funds held balancesReconcile treaty and facultative activity with reinsurers and brokersMonitor collectability and aging of reinsurance balancesRegulatory and Statutory ResponsibilitiesSupport preparation of statutory financial statements such as Annual, Quarterly, and Supplemental SchedulesEnsure compliance with: Statutory accounting principles, IFRS, State insurance department requirementsLeadershipTrain team members on: Accounting policy, Insurance accounting concepts, Controls and documentation standards.Help build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.Provide the leadership necessary to maintain a motivated, productive and competent team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities and authority.Be a team leader and builder who has an eye for talent with the ability to maximize resources and capability to deliver business results.Demonstrate strong mentoring, relationship building, planning and organizational skills.Guide and direct team members in their personal and professional development.
