HVAC Building Automation Technician

We are looking for an experienced HVAC technician who enjoys hands‑on work, troubleshooting, and has a strong mechanical and electrical background. The role focuses on modern, computer‑controlled Building Automation Systems (BAS) to support large campus HVAC systems. Responsibilities Assess and repair general HVAC work. Operate computer‑controlled BAS that manages large campus cooling systems. Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC mechanical and electrical components. Adjust temperature setpoints, operation times, calibrate DDC components, and troubleshoot BAS control and communication problems. Inspect contracted work for installations, repairs, service, and maintenance of complex equipment and control systems in county‑owned facilities. Initiate material lists, solicit cost estimates, and oversee delivery of parts and materials to job sites. Coordinate project schedules with building occupants and contractors; maintain records and warranty information. Enter work order information in the computerized Maintenance/Work Order Program and complete required paperwork. Job Details Work hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Participates in on‑call rotation for emergencies (typically 2–3 times per year). Position provided with tools, full uniform, steel‑toed shoes, PPE, county‑issued phone, county‑issued vehicle, and a laptop while at work. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of HVAC trade experience for Skilled Trades Worker II (starting pay $22.14, Step 1). Six (6) years of HVAC trade experience for Skilled Trades Worker III (starting pay $24.42, Step 1). Valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience with programming and troubleshooting Building Automation Systems (Metasys & Tracer Summit). Universal Certification EPA card. Physical Demands Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Security & Screening Successful candidate will undergo an extensive background check; CJIS clearance is required.
