Our lab uses C. elegans and mammalian cell culture models to investigate the molecular basis of neurodevelopmental disorders and the roles of primary cilia in neuronal development. The successful candidate will learn and implement basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. molecular cloning and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing), cell culture, immunofluorescence, and microscopy as well as contribute to smooth day to day lab operations by maintaining databases of lab reagents, preparing common buffers, and training undergraduate students in basic lab techniques.JOB DESCRIPTIONMAIN RESPONSIBILITIESCarry out molecular biology experiments such as PCR, plasmid construction, CRISPR-Cas9 editingPerform high-resolution microscopy on live and fixed samplesCarry out basic cell culture experiments such as transfections and immunofluorescenceCarry out general lab maintenance that includes making and autoclaving buffers and maintaining databases of lab reagentsPREFFERED QUALIFICATIONSB.S. or M.S. in Biology or a related fieldExcellent communication, organization, and record-keeping skillsMolecular biology experience and basic knowledge of genetics are requiredDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a teamA minimum two-year commitmentSalary range is $47,500 - $50,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
