Job Overview County of Hawai`i is seeking a Victim/Witness Counselor I to provide counseling services, information, and assistance to victims and witnesses of criminal acts. The role requires liaison work with the criminal justice system and related agencies. Responsibilities Provide counseling, advice, and support to victims and witnesses. Act as liaison between victims, witnesses and criminal justice system agencies. Perform related duties as required to support the victim/witness counseling program. Maintain accurate, confidential case records and documentation. Collaborate with public and private resources to facilitate victim/witness needs. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in social work, sociology, counseling, psychology, or a related field. At least one year of professional counseling experience in a program that provided social services, including work related to the criminal justice system and crisis counseling. Valid driver’s license at the time of filing. Valid medical and physical condition to perform the duties, as confirmed by a pre‑entry medical examination. Capacity to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation for disability. Must submit a copy of college transcript and supplemental information sheet with application. Physical / Mental Requirements Applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position efficiently.
