The Disability Determination Service Division processes disability claims for SS, SSI, and Medi‑Cal programs. Job Summary Under the direction of the Team Manager, the Disability Evaluation Analyst (DEA) manages a caseload of initial claims under SS, SSI, and Medi‑Cal Disability programs, working with a Medical Consultant to determine eligibility. Responsibilities Perform highly technical work related to disability claims, obtaining medical and vocational evidence, determining impairment severity, and evaluating the ability to engage in substantial work activity. Collaborate within a self‑directed adjudication team and medical staff on claims processing. Consult with management and team members on team efficiency and claimant concerns. Special Requirements Requires Federal fingerprint clearance and background check; criminal record checks will be conducted. Applicants must submit fingerprints for Federal processing; Federal clearance is a condition of employment. Training and Development assignments may be considered; assignments are temporary and shall not exceed twenty‑four months. Candidates residing outside California must provide proof of residence prior to appointment.
