Maintenance Technician

American Crane & Equipment

NOW HIRING: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Plant Manager

Location: On-site only | 531 Old Swede Road, Douglassville, PA 19518 (No remote work available)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | Full-time | 5:00AM-1:30PM | Overtime as required based on plant schedule

Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience, mechanical skills, and market data

Build Your Career with ACECO

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to help keep our manufacturing operations running safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This role is the backbone of our production environment. When a machine goes down, production stops. When equipment runs well, good product ships on time. The Maintenance Technician is the person who makes the difference between those two outcomes.

We are looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who can diagnose problems, fix what's broken, maintain what's working, and keep the facility and equipment in the condition our production teams need to do their jobs.

The right person is hands-on, reliable, and takes pride in keeping things running. You'll work directly with production teams, respond to equipment issues in real time, and perform preventive maintenance that keeps problems from happening in the first place.

You won't get lost here. Your perspective will matter, your judgment will be relied upon, and your impact will be visible across our organization.

What This Role Really Is

This is a hands-on, floor-level maintenance role in an active heavy manufacturing environment.

ACECO builds electric overhead cranes, hoists, and heavy material handling equipment. Our production floor includes welding, machining, fabrication, assembly, painting, and testing operations. The equipment and facility systems that support all of that work need someone who can keep them running - and who can figure out what's wrong when they don't.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery, mechanical equipment, and facility systems. That means preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines. It means troubleshooting mechanical problems using precision measuring instruments, diagrams, manuals, and engineering specs. And it means routine building maintenance to keep the facility safe and operational.

You'll also operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as part of the work. This role requires someone who is comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, performing confined space entry, and lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds.

Success requires strong mechanical skills, the ability to read drawings and blueprints, attention to detail, and the flexibility to shift priorities when equipment needs change - because in a manufacturing plant, they will.

Who Thrives Here - and Who Does Not

You'll do well here if you:

  • Have strong mechanical aptitude and genuinely enjoy fixing things
  • Can diagnose problems by observing equipment in operation - listening, watching, measuring
  • Take pride in keeping equipment and facilities in good working condition
  • Are comfortable reading drawings, blueprints, operations manuals, and manufacturer specifications
  • Work well under pressure when a machine goes down and production is waiting
  • Understand preventive maintenance is what keeps breakdowns from happening
  • Are comfortable working with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and power tools every day
  • Can work independently but communicate well with production teams and leadership
  • Take safety seriously - for yourself and for the people working around you
  • Show up reliably, on time, and ready to work
This role is likely not a fit if you:
  • Prefer desk work or a climate-controlled environment
  • Are uncomfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, or performing confined space entry
  • Have limited experience with mechanical equipment, tools, and troubleshooting
  • Prefer to wait for direction rather than identify and address problems proactively
  • Are not comfortable in a heavy manufacturing environment with noise, dust, temperature variation, and moving equipment
  • Have difficulty with the physical demands of the role - lifting, bending, climbing, standing for extended periods
  • Prefer a set routine with no variation - maintenance priorities can change quickly
What Success Looks Like in the First Year

First 90 Days
  • Complete all required safety, compliance, and equipment-specific training
  • Build strong working relationships with the Plant Manager, production teams, and fellow maintenance personnel
  • Develop a thorough understanding of ACECO's facility layout, production equipment, and maintenance systems
  • Learn the preventive maintenance schedule and begin performing routine PM tasks independently
  • Become familiar with equipment manuals, diagrams, and engineering specifications for key production machines
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and adherence to all safety protocols from day one
  • Begin responding to equipment issues and troubleshooting mechanical problems with guidance
Second Quarter
  • Perform preventive maintenance independently across a broad range of production machinery and facility systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment with increasing independence - engines, motors, pneumatic tools, production machines
  • Demonstrate proficiency with precision measuring and testing instruments for diagnosing equipment issues
  • Handle routine building maintenance tasks reliably
  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment safely and proficiently
  • Build a reputation with production teams as someone who responds quickly and fixes things right
Third Quarter
  • Operate as a reliable, independent maintenance resource across the plant
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend preventive solutions
  • Contribute to improving maintenance processes, schedules, or documentation
  • Support production teams proactively by identifying equipment concerns before they cause downtime
Fourth Quarter
  • Serve as a trusted, go-to maintenance resource for the production floor
  • Maintain a strong preventive maintenance track record that contributes to reduced unplanned downtime
  • Continue building mechanical skills and knowledge of ACECO's equipment and facility systems
  • Demonstrate the personal accountability, reliability, and initiative that define success at ACECO
