My client is a profitable fintech business that has been operating successfully for more than two decades. While much of the technology market has spent the last few years riding the boom-and-bust cycle, they've continued to invest, grow, and modernize their platform.

Not every engineer wants another startup. Grinding 80 hour weeks for whatever the next "XX of Netflix" is, or the millionth AI workflow or lead gen tool this month. Some 23 year old founder pissing away your monthly burn rate on AI slop tokens, knowing full well the company has 6 months left without another raise, when you have mouths to feed and keep a roof over your families' head.

Some want to join a profitable company that's modernizing its technology stack without reinventing itself every six months. What This Role Is

This is an opportunity for a strong SQL professional who enjoys building reliable systems, solving data problems, and helping modernize an established platform.

You'll be joining a business with a mature technology environment that is actively investing in modernization, including an ongoing migration toward AWS.

If your background includes SQL Server, SSIS, ETL development, data warehousing, reporting environments, and database performance tuning, you'll likely feel right at home here.

Over the next 6–12 months, you'll play a key role in helping evolve a large-scale data environment while supporting the migration of critical systems toward AWS.

You'll join an established team of developers, architects, and data professionals working on systems that support a market-leading fintech platform used across North America.

This is a growth hire, not a replacement position.

This isn't an AI startup.

It isn't a greenfield cloud-native build.

It isn't a Principal Architect role where you'll spend your days debating the latest data framework on LinkedIn.

The team is looking for a strong engineer first and foremost, someone who understands traditional data environments, appreciates stability, and wants to help bring a successful business forward as it continues its modernization journey.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases and data warehouse solutions
• Build and optimize ETL processes using SSIS and modern cloud tooling
• Support ongoing data platform modernization initiatives
• Contribute to AWS migration efforts, including exposure to Redshift and Glue
• Improve database performance, scalability, and reliability
• Work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders across the organization
• Help bridge a traditional SQL environment into a more modern cloud-first future

What They're Looking For

• Strong SQL Server development experience
• Experience building and maintaining ETL solutions using SSIS
• Data warehousing experience
• Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, and optimization
• Experience working with large-scale reporting and analytics environments
• Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams

Nice To Have (not deal breakers)

• AWS experience
• Redshift
• Glue
• Exposure to DevOps practices
• Cloud migration experience

Location

This is a fully remote U.S.-based position.
