The Part-time Mental Health Domestic Violence Consultant will function as the Mental Health/Intimate Partner Violence liaison to the ACS Team, under the supervision of the TCCNY Team Coordinator/ Program Director and will be located full time within one of the ACS Field Office Sites located in the Financial District. This position is 21 hours a week. Conduct formal and informal consultations with ACS Child Protective Specialists on their cases which include mental health and/Intimate partner violenceconcerns. The CSP consultant will assist in assessing the presence of these concerns and help determine the specific level of interventions required to strengthen the family and reduce risk to the children, providing concrete tools and casework guidance. Conduct cross consultations with their peers, and CASAC support specialists that involve substance use disorder, mental health concerns and intimate partner violence CSP will meet Child Center productivity requirements including number of formal consultations per week and writing reports for every consultation, within an acceptable time frame. Maintain statistics of clients served as part of regular progress reports for ACS. Participate in family team meetings, case conferences and child safety conferences with ACS families as required and approved by the Team Coordinator and/ or Director to assist ACS workers with providing client with psychoeducation, referrals, and raising awareness of the concerns presented and impact on the children. Engage directly with families and/or support CPS Teams as they work with families to understand the pressing issues and pertinent history, and to identify and assess areas of concern and strength Conduct assessments, recommend effective interventions and engagement strategies for the benefit of caseworkers, other ACS staff and families. Develop and conduct mental health / IPV trainings for ACS Child Protective Specialists, supervisors, managers and other interested parties (including ACS contracted foster care and prevention providers) Training topics are to be determined by the needs of the field office in collaboration with the CSP team. Curriculum will be written and specific, and creative in approach to engage ACS staff in learning and transfer of knowledge. Attend case reviews as an important training tool, as per request of ACS and approval of the Team Coordinator/ Director. Attend CPS citywide mental health and IPV meetings- as determined by the Team Coordinator/ Program Director. Develop and maintain knowledge of community-based resources for referral to mental health and/or IPV services. Conduct Community/Field Visits-including but not limited to home visits, schools, hospitals (i.e. discharge meetings) and other treatment provider sites to assist with engaging clients and partnering with ACS. Facilitate, communicate, and work directly with families and service providers, to ensure families engage in recommended treatment/ services. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree with a License in Social Work, Psychology, or related Field, LMSW, LCSW, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Psychologist, plus five (5) years of experience providing in-person clinical services to children and/or adults. Experience in serving families managing substance use disorders, mental health, and/or intimate partner violence challenges. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and cross-disciplinary knowledge about the impact on families of co-occurring disorders and impairments. Two (2) years of experience providing clinical services to children and/or families that have had some experience with the child welfare and/or other social service agencies. Experience working with and/or knowledge of local networks of service providers supporting families in the areas of intimate partner violence, mental health, and substance use disorders. Trauma-informed, culturally competent, and cross-disciplinary knowledge about co-occurring mental health and intellectual or developmental disabilities and addressing interpersonal violence, power, and control with an adult with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Excellent listening and communication skills. Experienced ability to make psychosocial assessments and develop a care plan. Excellent clinical writing skills. Ability to work onsite in an ACS office location and/or out in the field 5 days/week is required to ensure effective collaboration and adherence to the contract.
