Our goal is to combine education, patient advocacy, and evidence‑based research to advance family medicine and geriatrics. USC Street Medicine, housed within the Division of Street Medicine and the Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, provides full‑service primary care to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness within the City of Los Angeles. All care is delivered where patients reside, including under bridges, in parks and on the city sidewalks. There is no fixed‑site clinic; clinical delivery is done via walking rounds with a pickup truck and backpacks. With the vision that all unsheltered homeless in LA County have access to healthcare, the team is poised for a year of growth in the realm of clinical delivery, education/workforce development, research and advocacy. USC Street Medicine is looking for a dynamic, organized and self‑motivated individual to join as the RN Clinic Manager. Reporting to the Medical Director, the RN Clinic Manager will lead the Nursing Team at USC Street Medicine's Clinical Practice with administrative responsibilities over nursing policy and procedures, quality improvement initiatives, hiring, onboarding, operations and supervision of a team of nurses and support staff. The RN Clinic Manager also provides direct nursing care part time, 2 days per week. This is a full‑time position, Monday‑Friday, 8am‑4pm on‑site at the Los Angeles, CA office. Some after‑hour and weekend work may be involved. It is not a hybrid or remote position. Responsibilities Directly or indirectly supervise assigned staff; recruit, screen, hire, orient and train staff; evaluate employee performance; counsel, discipline and/or terminate employees as required. Direct and coordinate activities of patient care programs. Establish and implement operational policies, objectives, and major plans for the department; develop and implement administrative policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, provide interpretation as needed. Review patient care programs to determine effectiveness in meeting established care goals, treatment procedures, departmental policies and national standards; initiate appropriate actions to correct or enhance programs. Direct compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards and federal and state regulations regarding patient care; prepare for inspections by agencies. Investigate and resolve incidents and complaints or suggestions from physicians, patients, visitors and staff; record and investigate all incidents/accidents that occur. Oversee activities of quality assurance programs for patient care provided by the unit. Participate in policy formation, long‑range planning and policy‑making for the department. Assess staff educational needs and oversee the development of education programs; promote staff participation in educational opportunities and activities. Develop and implement security‑related procedures such as office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals and key controls; coordinate security activities with the Department of Public Safety; promote and maintain standards for security‑conscious awareness and behavior. Assesses health care needs of patients; plan, implement and evaluate care designed to meet patient health care needs. Administer medications and fluids, obtain specimens, and follow procedures for medication control; perform nursing interventions and procedures; assist with complex procedures and respond to emergencies per protocol. Provide comprehensive documentation of each encounter, including history, assessment, medications, allergies, treatments/procedures, and patient education; ensure accurate, complete documentation for billing. Qualifications Minimum Education : Master’s degree or combined experience/education as substitute. Minimum Experience : 5 years of relevant experience or combined education/experience as substitute. Preferred Education : Master’s degree. Preferred Experience : 7 years of relevant experience. Minimum Field of Expertise : California Board of Registered Nursing issued nursing license (RN) required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; supervisory level clinical and administrative experience; expert level knowledge of patient care practice and clinical expertise; working knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agency requirements. Preferred Field of Expertise : Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or Master’s in Health Care Administration (MHA). Experience working with patients experiencing homelessness or other marginalized populations. Minimum Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Preferred Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The annual salary range for this position is $119,616 - $129,366. #J-18808-Ljbffr
