Industrial Machine Operator/assembly

Location: St. Joseph, MI
Shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM | Monday–Friday + Occasional Overtime
Pay: $18.25/hour

Job Summary

We're looking for a dependable and hardworking Industrial Machine Operator/assembly to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating production equipment, grinding and finishing steel products, handling materials, and supporting daily manufacturing operations while maintaining quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Industrial Machine Operator/assembly, your core responsibilities will include:

1. Machine Operation: Operate and monitor production equipment to ensure efficient production and quality output.
2. Grinding & Finishing: Grind, deburr, and finish steel products using hand and power tools while maintaining quality standards.
3. Material Handling: Move, stage, and transport steel materials throughout the facility using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment.
4. Supporting Production: Load and unload materials and prepare steel products for manufacturing and finishing operations.
5. Quality Inspection: Inspect products throughout the production process to ensure they meet company quality standards.
6. Maintaining Equipment & Work Areas: Keep machinery, grinding equipment, and workstations clean, organized, and operating safely.

In addition, you will assist with other production and warehouse duties as needed to support manufacturing operations and production goals.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

1. Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
2. Experience working with steel is a plus.
3. Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and computer-operated equipment.
4. Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
5. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Skills

1. Machine Operation: Ability to safely operate production equipment in a manufacturing environment.
2. Grinding & Finishing: Experience using grinders or other finishing tools is a plus.
3. Material Handling: Experience moving and staging materials efficiently and safely.
4. Equipment Operation: Willingness to learn overhead crane, forklift, and computerized equipment operation.
5. Measurement Skills: Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
6. Attention to Detail: Commitment to producing quality work while maintaining production standards.
7. Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to workplace safety and following company procedures.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to consistently lift 75+ pounds in an industrial environment.
2. Ability to stand, bend, twist, and perform repetitive movements for 8–9 hours.
3. Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with occasional overtime.
