Mechanical Inspector - Entry Level, Tier 2 & Senior/Tier 3

What You'll Do Depending on experience and level, responsibilities may include: Perform in-process, first-piece, final, and roving inspections throughout the manufacturing process. Inspect precision-machined components using mechanical inspection practices and precision measuring equipment. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Use precision inspection equipment and gauges to verify dimensional requirements. Perform visual inspections of surface finishes and verify conformance to specifications. Measure and verify surface roughness requirements using appropriate inspection equipment. Document inspection results accurately and completely. Prepare discrepant material reports and other quality documentation. Support investigations and resolution of nonconforming material. Collect inspection data for customer final inspection reports and documentation packages. Communicate inspection findings with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and other departments. Provide inspection guidance and technical support to production personnel as appropriate. Maintain accurate and organized inspection records. Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Senior / Tier 3 Responsibilities Our Senior/Tier 3 Mechanical Inspector will take on a higher level of technical responsibility, including: Advanced dimensional inspection of complex precision-machined components. CMM programming, operation, and troubleshooting using Zeiss Calypso. Advanced application of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation. Welding inspection in accordance with applicable industry standards and engineering drawing requirements. Participation in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and customer returns. Provide technical inspection guidance to other inspectors and departments. Work independently to identify, analyze, and resolve inspection and quality issues. Support customer inspection documentation and final inspection requirements. The Senior/Tier 3 level is intended for an experienced quality professional who can independently perform advanced inspection activities and provide technical support to others. Tier 2 Mechanical Inspector The Tier 2 Inspector should have previous hands‑on inspection or manufacturing experience and be capable of performing routine inspection activities with increasing independence. Candidates should have experience with: Mechanical inspection practices. Precision measuring tools and gauges. Engineering drawing interpretation. GD&T fundamentals. In-process and final inspection. Inspection documentation and quality records. Identifying and communicating nonconforming conditions. Working effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Entry‑Level Mechanical Inspector We are willing to consider candidates who are continuing their careers in quality inspection or manufacturing and demonstrate the ability and desire to learn. Ideal candidates will have: High school diploma or GED. Strong attention to detail. Basic mechanical aptitude. Ability to read and follow instructions. Basic computer skills. Ability to learn precision measurement equipment and inspection techniques. Strong communication and organizational skills. A willingness to learn engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection practices. Preferred qualifications include: 5+ years of machine shop experience. 5+ years of CMM inspection experience. Advanced knowledge of GD&T . Advanced engineering drawing interpretation. Strong CMM programming and operating experience, preferably Zeiss Calypso . Ability to perform inspection techniques with minimal supervision. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot inspection issues and determine appropriate measurement methods. Strong computer literacy. Excellent communication skills. For senior-level candidates, we are particularly interested in individuals who can interpret complex drawings, apply GD&T, operate/program CMM equipment, and independently make sound inspection decisions. Education High school diploma or GED required. Additional technical education, inspection training, certifications, or relevant manufacturing education is a plus. Work Environment This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve working on the production floor as well as in inspection areas. The position requires the ability to stand and sit, walk throughout the facility, use hands for handling and inspection, reach, perform repetitive motions, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The role may involve exposure to typical manufacturing conditions including noise, vibration, dust, fumes, mists/gases, mechanical hazards, and chemicals.
