Salary Schedule: 1A Grade 8 – $24.52/hr to $26.96/hr Working Calendar: 187 Days/ 7 Hours ECE Instructional Assistant Stipend: $1.00 per hour. ESZ/Choice Zone Stipend: $1.00 per hour. Information regarding Exceptional Child Education (ECE) classrooms Exceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose approach to learning differs from that of their peers. The district is committed to providing a high-quality education for students with disabilities. A variety of programs, techniques, methods, and materials are available for individualized instruction. ECE programs are provided to students with disabilities in comprehensive and special education facilities. Assignments could include students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities (MSD), Mild Mental Disabilities (MMD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD), Autism (AUT), Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Social Communication or a combination of each area. Changes in assignment or ECE designation may occur during a school year due to student and classroom needs or between school years when ECE allocations are reviewed. Scope of Responsibilities Recognizes that all responsibilities are supportive. Assists in implementing each student's individual education plan, helps establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment, and displays willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. Passing score on the KPA (Kentucky Paraeducator Exam) or 48 college semester hours. Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities. Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students such as positioning, toileting, and lifting. Willingness to attend district ECE in-service for professional growth. Applicants with high school or GED must take and pass the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment Exam. Exams are free and candidates have three chances to obtain a passing score. For assistance with studying for this assessment, consult available resources from the district.
