Senior Functional Safety Engineer / Systems Engineer

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Functional Safety Engineer / Systems Engineer to support the development and rollout of Functional Safety processes across engineering organizations. This role is ideal for candidates with strong technical expertise in Functional Safety standards and hands-on experience operationalizing safety practices within product development environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support Functional Safety implementation activities across engineering teams
• Drive compliance with Functional Safety standards such as:
• ISO 26262
• ISO 13849
• Conduct and facilitate safety reviews, hazard analyses, and risk assessments
• Develop and implement Functional Safety workflows, processes, and best practices
• Support organization-wide rollout and adoption of safety processes
• Collaborate with systems, software, controls, and hardware engineering teams
• Train and mentor engineering teams on Functional Safety methodologies
• Support safety lifecycle activities for electrification and embedded control systems

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Functional Safety and/or Systems Engineering
• Strong knowledge of Functional Safety implementation and governance
• Hands-on experience with ISO 26262 and/or ISO 13849
• Background in:
• Electrification systems
• Embedded controls
• Safety-critical systems
• Experience in one or more of the following industries:
• Heavy equipment
• Automotive
• Industrial automation
• Off-highway vehicles
• Demonstrated success rolling out safety processes across organizations

Preferred Experience

Candidates who have successfully:

• Implemented Functional Safety processes
• Led Functional Safety reviews and audits
• Trained cross-functional engineering teams
• Built scalable safety workflows and documentation
• Supported enterprise-level Functional Safety adoption
