Our organization is looking for a caring Occupational Therapist to work at the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center, located at 3800 Park Avenue. This role focuses on assisting individuals with developmental disabilities to enhance their independence and overall quality of life. The position operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Occupational Therapist will assess and treat patients facing physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges.

• Evaluate patients' abilities to perform independent living skills safely and effectively.
• Develop tailored care plans, specifying treatment types and frequencies.
• Implement treatment strategies using suitable modalities and document patient progress.
• Adjust care plans as necessary and seek consultations when required.
• Educate patients and their families or caregivers about identified deficits.
• Assist with patient discharge from therapy services and provide guidance on adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervise care provided by designated personnel in accordance with established standards and regulations.
• Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Education: A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field, as required for state licensure.
• Experience: No prior experience is necessary.

• Regularly required to stand.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
• Frequent auditory skills to detect body sounds and alarms.
• Regular visual acuity for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
• Frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
• Occasional driving and rare crawling.

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.
• State-specific Occupational Therapist licensure is required for Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule, totaling 40 hours per week.
