As the business continues to expand and modernize its operations, they are seeking a Director of Materials Management to lead warehouse operations, inventory strategy, maintenance spares management, and materials execution at a large-scale industrial site.This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in complex manufacturing environments and enjoys building scalable processes, developing teams, and driving operational excellence.The OpportunityThis role will provide strategic and operational leadership across warehouse operations, inventory management, maintenance materials, and material flow processes supporting a critical industrial operation.The Director will be responsible for improving inventory accuracy, material availability, warehouse efficiency, and site reliability while driving transformation initiatives focused on automation, digitization, SAP optimization, and continuous improvement.This position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and EHS leadership and plays a critical role in supporting plant performance and long-term growth objectives.What You'll OwnMaterials & Inventory ManagementLead all site materials management and inventory control functions.Develop strategies to optimize inventory levels while ensuring operational reliability.Improve inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and working capital performance.Oversee material traceability, inventory governance, and cycle count programs.Drive inventory optimization initiatives including safety stock, min/max planning, and inventory reduction efforts.Warehouse OperationsManage receiving, storage, staging, inventory control, and material distribution activities.Optimize warehouse processes, workflows, and physical space utilization.Develop scalable warehouse procedures and best practices.Ensure uninterrupted material flow to support production and maintenance requirements.Maintenance Spares & Reliability SupportLead critical spare parts and MRO inventory strategies.Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to improve equipment readiness and plant uptime.Implement best practices around spare-parts planning, asset recovery, consignment inventory, and vendor-managed inventory programs.Support reliability initiatives through effective materials planning and inventory management.Digital Transformation & Continuous ImprovementUtilize SAP and ERP systems to improve planning, visibility, reporting, and operational decision-making.Lead warehouse automation, digitization, barcoding, RFID, and inventory tracking initiatives.Develop KPI dashboards and performance management tools.Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean methodologies and data-driven decision making.LeadershipBuild, develop, and mentor a high-performing materials management organization.Foster a culture centered around accountability, safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.Serve as a hands-on leader who enjoys partnering directly with site teams and spending time on the plant floor.Ideal Background10+ years of progressive leadership experience in:Materials ManagementWarehouse OperationsInventory ManagementSupply Chain OperationsManufacturing Materials PlanningExperience within:MiningMetalsChemical ProcessingEnergyRefiningHeavy ManufacturingIndustrial ProcessingStrong experience with:SAP or ERP systemsInventory optimizationMaintenance spares and MRO programsWarehouse operationsMaterial planning and inventory controlContinuous improvement and process transformationProven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and EHS teams.
