About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Research, Creativity, and Economic Development to serve as its Chief Research Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and enhancing the institution's research efforts, with a focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary projects. This role is pivotal in leveraging the company's R1 designation to expand the research enterprise and increase national and global visibility. The Vice President will also be instrumental in supporting student success and driving innovation within the context of the company's land-grant and space-grant missions. Key responsibilities include working with academic and community colleges to integrate research activities, providing leadership in acquiring research funding, and overseeing research commercialization and public outreach. Candidates for the Vice President position should have a terminal degree and a proven track record in leading large research ecosystems. Experience in technology commercialization, securing industry partnerships, and scaling intellectual property portfolios is highly desirable. The role requires expertise in federal funding priorities and a strategic approach to expanding industry-funded research initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in areas such as agricultural research, water-related research, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, and biosciences. The company is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate the ability to drive research growth and innovation in the context of the institution's mission and values.
