Private Family in Lagrangeville, NY Seeking a Family Assistant (Nanny/Housekeeper)

Position: Full-Time Live-Out Family Assistant (Nanny/Housekeeper Hybrid)

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, approximately 9:00 AM–7:00/8:00 PM (some flexibility and occasional earlier starts)

Salary: $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience

Start Date: Flexible — anytime between now and May; in place by June at the latest

Relocation: No – candidates within driving distance only (ideally within 1 hour)

About the Family

A warm, down-to-earth private family located in the Hudson Valley (Lagrangeville, New York) is seeking a long-term Family Assistant to support their busy household. The parents are hands-on and deeply involved with their children but are looking for a trusted partner—someone who can truly be an extension of the family and help keep daily life running smoothly.

They value kindness, respect, reliability, and someone who genuinely wants to be part of their children’s lives. The family embraces and appreciates those who work with them and is hoping to find the right long-term fit , ideally someone who will grow with the family over the years.

Children: Two active children (early elementary / preschool age)

Home Size: Single-family home

Household Staff: Weekly housekeeper (1x per week); current au pair (overlap provided for onboarding)

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, engaged childcare and support children’s daily routines
• Serve as a true family assistant—an “extra set of hands” and extension of a parent
• Assist with school drop-offs, pick-ups, activities, and transportation as needed
• Step in with childcare coverage if a parent’s work meeting runs late
• Help maintain an organized, well-functioning household day to day
• Light housekeeping and home upkeep between professional cleanings
• Laundry for the household
• Running errands and managing household supplies (e.g., keeping essentials stocked)
• Support structure, routines, and calm while keeping up with energetic children
• Travel with the family on occasion
• Collaborate closely with parents to support each child’s individual needs and personalities

The ideal candidate is high-energy, proactive, and nurturing , with experience supporting both children and household operations. This family is looking for someone who can truly “keep up” with active kids while also providing structure, modeling respectful behavior, and maintaining a calm, grounded presence.

Someone who naturally understands children’s personalities, adapts their approach, and meets kids where they are will thrive in this role. A background working with children who have different learning styles, sensory sensitivities, or social differences is a plus. Age is less important than energy level, emotional intelligence, and commitment.

They are seeking someone who wants a long-term role (ideally many years) , has limited outside commitments, and genuinely wants to be an important and consistent presence in their children’s lives.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a similar Family Assistant, Nanny, or hybrid Nanny/Housekeeper role
• Strong childcare experience with active young children
• Comfortable assisting with laundry and light housekeeping
• Excellent references
• Legal to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Comfortable traveling with the family
• Reliable, organized, and flexible
• Long-term mindset and desire for stability
