Director, Program Operations - Access and Disability Support

Overview Austin Community College (ACC) seeks a Director, Program Operations for Access and Disability Support (ADS) to provide strategic and operational leadership for disability-related services. The role aligns with ADA, Section 504, and ACC's commitment to inclusive education, advancing equity and access across ACC campuses. This position reports to the Executive Dean, Access and Disability Support and travels between campuses to ensure equitable service delivery. The ADS leadership team duties include daily program operations, AIM database system implementation, intake and testing coordination, strategic planning, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement of services supporting students with disabilities. The role also manages data reporting and collaborates with IT, Institutional Research, and Student Affairs to integrate systems and services. Responsibilities Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate assigned staff in accordance with College policies and employment laws; recommend hiring and disciplinary actions as needed. Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for all ADS program operations across ACC locations; serve as a key member of the ADS leadership team. Support the development of the department's operational budget and make recommendations related to service delivery efficiency and program operations. Serve as the district-wide administrator and subject matter expert for the Accessible Information Management (AIM) system, configuring workflows, managing user roles, data reporting, documentation standards, and staff training. Lead AIM-related project management, collaborating with ADS teams (student accessibility services, communication access, accessible technology, and text/media) and provide technical consultation on accessibility systems and compliance. Coordinate with IT, Institutional Research, and Student Affairs to support data integration and align systems and services district-wide. Oversee collection, management, and reporting of program data to ensure integrity, accountability, and compliance under ADA and Section 504. Conduct ongoing program assessment using AIM and other data sources to evaluate outcomes and drive improvements. Develop and implement district-wide policies and procedures for consistent ADS program operations aligned with institutional goals and legal requirements. Ensure alignment with institutional goals, regulatory compliance, and enhancement of accessible services and support initiatives. Oversee ADA testing accommodations, including proctoring, distraction-reduced environments, and assistive technology; supervise ADS testing staff for consistent, compliant practices with AIM and related tools. Respond to student concerns and complex accessibility issues in coordination with ADS leadership, Legal Affairs, Equal Opportunity and Compliance, and other stakeholders. Maintain regular and reliable attendance; travel between sites to ensure service delivery across campuses. Perform other duties as assigned in support of ADS and institutional access goals. Knowledge Best practices in disability services, policies, and procedures. Supervisory principles and methods. Data gathering and statistical reporting. Strong working knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and related regulations in higher education. Skills Strong leadership and staff management across distributed teams. Understanding of accessibility-related laws, best practices, and service models. Experience overseeing internal program operations and project management. Ability to manage complex service operations, resolve accommodation-related disputes, and support students from diverse backgrounds. Clear, effective communication and collaboration with faculty, staff, and students. Commitment to accessible environments and advancing access in higher education. Ability to maintain a work schedule, diplomacy, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information. Experience overseeing large-scale, multi-campus accommodation programs and ADA testing operations. Experience developing strategic initiatives to improve accessibility, efficiency, and student outcomes in higher education. Background in change management and cross-department collaboration, especially in diverse student populations. Technology Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Knowledge of managing student disability management systems. Experience with AIM, including workflow configuration, SIS data integration, advanced reporting, and end-user training. Proficient in email, videoconferencing, phone, and direct messaging; capable of using project management tools. Required Work Experience Two years of related work experience, including one year of supervisory experience. Functional knowledge of AIM and experience configuring workflows, generating reports, and providing user training. Education cannot substitute supervisory experience. Preferred Work Experience Four years of progressively responsible leadership experience in accessibility/disability services within a higher education setting. Experience with disability management databases, program operations, ADA testing, and support staffing. Education Bachelor's degree required. Preferred: Master\'s degree in Disability Studies, Special Education, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Psychology, vocational rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, social work, or related field. Physical Requirements Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. Safety Supervise safe operation of the unit; facilitate safety training and inspections. Take reasonable actions to eliminate hazards and foster a safety culture.
