RN Medical-Surgical

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical-Surgical unit on night shifts is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1. The RN will perform patient assessments, administer medications, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care. NIHSS certification is required for this role, which focuses on patients with medical stroke conditions. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential to succeed in this fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to medical-surgical patients during night shifts.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor patient conditions regularly.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress.
• Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical-surgical nursing role preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

• Experience working in a stroke or neurological unit.
• Previous night shift nursing experience.
• Additional certifications relevant to medical-surgical nursing.

• Night shift position with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1.
• Work involves care for patients on a medical stroke unit.
• Must maintain NIHSS certification and comply with hospital standards.

• Night shifts as assigned.
