Position Summary

The Clinical Direct Supervisor provides administrative and clinical oversight for outpatient mental health services in compliance with Nevada Medicaid Services Manual Chapter 400, applicable Nevada licensing board requirements, and all federal and state regulations governing behavioral health services.  Ensures that clinical staff provide medically necessary, ethical, and high-quality behavioral health services and that all documentation, supervision, and operational procedures comply with Nevada Medicaid standards.

Minimum Qualifications

The Direct Supervisor must:

• Hold an active and unrestricted Nevada clinical license in one of the following disciplines: 
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) 
  • Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC) 
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) 
  • Licensed Psychologist 
• Meet qualifications required under Nevada Medicaid Chapter 400 for clinical supervision and oversight 
• Have a minimum of two to five years of post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in outpatient behavioral health 
• Have supervisory experience in behavioral health services preferred 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Supervision

• Provide direct clinical supervision to licensed and unlicensed clinical staff 
• Review and approve clinical documentation as required 
• Ensure staff maintain compliance with scope of practice and ethical standards 
• Conduct regular supervision meetings and performance evaluations 
• Support staff development and continuing education 

Medicaid Compliance Oversight

• Ensure agency compliance with Nevada Medicaid Chapter 400 requirements 
• Monitor documentation for medical necessity, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness 
• Assist with audits, corrective action plans, and quality assurance reviews 
• Ensure treatment plans and services meet Medicaid standards for reimbursement 
• Monitor staff credentialing and licensure compliance 

Administrative Oversight

• Participate in policy development and implementation 
• Assist in staffing, scheduling, and program development 
• Coordinate with executive leadership and community partners 
• Address clinical incidents, grievances, and risk management concerns 
• Participate in utilization review and quality improvement initiatives 

Clinical Leadership

• Provide consultation regarding complex clinical cases 
• Ensure implementation of evidence-based practices 
• Promote trauma-informed and culturally responsive care 
• Ensure appropriate crisis response procedures are followed 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of Nevada Medicaid Chapter 400 
• Knowledge of state licensing board regulations 
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills 
• Knowledge of behavioral health compliance standards 
• Ability to interpret Medicaid regulations and implement policy 
• Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation review skills 
• Ability to manage multiple staff and competing priorities
