Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Gastroenterology

Description

 This is a contract, on-site position that offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled physician to provide high-quality gastrointestinal care in a supportive clinical environment.

As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will deliver comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with digestive and liver conditions. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, technicians, and administrative staff to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and continuity of care throughout the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders
• Perform endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and biopsies
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings
• Manage chronic conditions such as IBD, GERD, and liver disease
• Document patient encounters accurately in electronic medical records
• Collaborate with primary care physicians and specialists on patient care
• Provide patient education on digestive health and treatment options
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical protocol initiatives
• Ensure compliance with all medical regulations and practice standards
• Maintain timely and thorough clinical documentation
• Support continuity of care throughout the locum assignment

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
• Valid medical license to practice in the state of California
• Associate-level experience in gastroenterology clinical practice
• Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures
• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
• Commitment to patient-centered care and safety
• DEA certification and active malpractice coverage
• Availability for on-site work in Pleasanton

Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 7a-7a, specific dates

Daily Volume: 2-4 scopes

Support Staff: Hospitalists

Must be board-certified
