Academic Advisor

Academic Advisor Under minimal supervision, this position provides academic and personal guidance for a caseload of applicants to the College from admission through to completion. Responsibilities Promote and manage student progression, course success, retention, completion, post‑graduate success, and student satisfaction. Utilize the College’s River Support retention resources and other indicators of progress to assist students and faculty toward course and degree/certificate completion goals. Guide assigned caseload of students and walk‑in students with program selection, program planning, and enrollment information and assistance. Complete individualized Student Success Plans for each assigned student. Assist with registration, financial aid filing, and billing issues; monitor and actively support student progression toward completion. Verify and update students on degree requirements. Provide support to students in planning and achieving educational and career goals; reach out to students falling behind; assist with transfers of study; increase awareness of resources. Process student admission, registrations, and payments as needed. Follow up regularly with each student to identify and resolve barriers to success; refer to internal and external resources to ensure positive outcomes. Review reports and update Student Success Plans. Assist with recruitment activities, including evenings and weekends, to meet enrollment goals; assist with off‑site registrations and Dual Enrollment. Provide support for walk‑in students and social media communication and promotional activities. Participate in Workday testing and related projects. Work a flexible schedule, including one evening per week and extended hours during peak registration. Complete all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s preferred). At least 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of student services, including enrollment, retention, and advising; knowledge of intrusive advising and one‑stop enrollment. Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritizing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows‑based applications; experience with a student information system. Ability to deliver presentations. Excellent academic and career advising skills. Creative problem‑solving, confidentiality, sound judgment, collaboration, initiative, self‑motivation. Ability to work independently and with others. Physical Demands Primarily sedentary; may lift no more than 10 pounds; occasional standing and walking required. Employment Type Regular; compensation range starts at $40,570.96.
