Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant is a detail-oriented and analytical accounting professional responsible for performing a variety of accounting and finance functions with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. This role supports the implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities include payroll administration, data entry, financial reporting, preparation of financial statements, recordkeeping, and related accounting activities. The position reviews financial data for accuracy, identifies and resolves discrepancies, and provides responsive, high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.Responsibilities include assisting Accounting Manager/Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting Department; reconciling balance sheet accounts, investigating variances, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner; preparing and reviewing monthly bank reconciliations, researching outstanding items, and resolving discrepancies promptly; maintaining fixed asset records; recording additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation; preparing and reconciling weekly credit card expense reports; recording and verifying all transactions related to the Accounts Payable process; preparing and analyzing monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports by department; identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implementing improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability; successfully managing shifting priorities and multiple deadlines during month-end close while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail; maintaining financial records within ERP/accounting systems; assisting with system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements; recording and reconciling intercompany transactions while ensuring proper balancing between entities; demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills to support accounting operations, collaboration, and execution of key job responsibilities; applying knowledge of GAAP, finance and budgeting, strategic planning, operational management, and mitigation strategies in the performance of accounting and financial responsibilities; representing B&D's Mission, Vision, and Values; physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing; job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills; other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned.Education and experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; 3+ years of accounting or financing experience preferred; educational experience may substitute for years of work experience; advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze large data sets, develop reporting tools, utilize pivot tables and advanced formulas preferred.
