Job TitlePress OperatorJob DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the Printing Department Manager, the Press Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of medium web flexographic printing presses.Tasks And ResponsibilitiesIncludes the following. Others may be assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign tasks/responsibilities to this job at any time.Operates PIT Equipment including Sit-down and Stand Up forklifts and Clamp TrucksPrints designs on rolls of paper stock using medium web flexographic printing pressInspects for imperfections and off-center impressions and adjusts speed, tension, and alignment accordingly using computer controlsMeasures and matches color values to specification using spectrophotometerVerifies printed designs match press schedule and meet customer specificationsPrepares roll stock and loads into printing pressCompletes print job changeoversPrepares finished rolls for inventory storage in Printed Board warehouseWashes out print station and stages materials for new jobsDemonstrates advanced knowledge and proficiency with printing presses and flexographic operationsDiagnoses and corrects equipment issuesMaintains waste treatment center and ink pump control systemMaintains good housekeeping around printing presses in accordance with 6S PrinciplesAssists with routine inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of printing presses during scheduled timesTrains other associates as a subject matter expertPerforms other related duties as required and assignedKnowledge And SkillsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Good mechanical abilitiesBasic mathematical skillsBasic computer proficiencyMust maintain a clean workspaceAnalytical thinkingEffective oral and written communicationEducation And Work ExperienceHigh School Diploma or High School Diploma Equivalency requiredAny level of FTA (Flexographic Technical Association) certification preferredOne year experience and/or training in a printing or manufacturing role requiredOne year experience and/or training operating forklift, clamp truck, and/or deep reach PIT a plusOne year experience and/or training in medium web flexographic printing and/or solvent inks requiredAny equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use repetitive hand motions for up to twelve hoursWhile performing the duties of this position this position is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, and noiseMust wear required PPE at all times on production floorWhile performing the duties of this job, this position is occasionally required to reach overhead, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs.Unique Industries, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and affords equal opportunity to all applicants and employees for all positions without regards to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected under local, state, or federal laws.
