The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department with a primary focus on benefits administration, leave of absence management, onboarding, and new hire orientation. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of employee benefits programs while serving as a trusted resource to employees and leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, state leaves).
- Run day-to-day HR operational functions including onboarding, benefits enrollment, new hire orientation, and policy enforcement.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear guidance on plan options, enrollment, eligibility, claims, and policy interpretation.
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs, including benefits, leave administration, disciplinary actions, performance management support, talent processes, productivity tracking, and unemployment management.
- Assist with annual benefits renewal processes by working closely with brokers, carriers, and vendors to evaluate plan options and ensure competitive offerings.
- Analyze benefits data, participation rates, and costs to provide reporting, insights, and ROI metrics to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ACA, FLSA, ERISA, and applicable benefits regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive issues to appropriate HR leadership.
- Participate in salary surveys and market benchmarking studies to support competitive compensation and benefits package design.
- Support the development and maintenance of equitable compensation structures aligned with market data and organizational strategy.
- Review HR policies and practices to ensure ongoing compliance with legal requirements and recommended best practices.
- Stay current on HR trends, benefits innovations, regulatory changes, and emerging HR technologies.

Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, including data entry, reporting, and system maintenance.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Two to five years of human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience administering employee benefits and leave programs.
- Experience participating in salary surveys and compensation benchmarking, with a focus on benefits package competitiveness.
- UKG (UltiPro) experience or experience with a comparable HRIS system required.
