Job Description
This role oversees a team of approximately 15 maintenance professionals, including mechanics and electricians, within a highly automated automotive manufacturing plant. The Maintenance Supervisor manages daily maintenance operations, responds to the manufacturing plan, leads and resolves equipment breakdowns, and ensures effective preventive and corrective maintenance programs. The position works closely with production to keep equipment running efficiently and reliably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and manage a team of mechanics and electricians, providing clear direction and support to approximately 15 direct reports.
• Analyze the daily manufacturing plan and adjust maintenance activities to support production needs and operational priorities.
• Take ownership of managing and leading equipment breakdowns, including rapid response, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues to minimize downtime.
• Plan, organize, and oversee preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Prioritize maintenance tasks based on production demands, equipment criticality, and safety considerations.
• Drive accountability within the maintenance team through structured processes, clear expectations, and consistent follow-up.
• Conduct checks, tests, and inspections on equipment, and communicate findings and evaluations to relevant stakeholders.
• Develop and implement solutions to operational and technical issues, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems.
• Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure equipment operates effectively and meets performance targets.
• Utilize technical documentation, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints, to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Oversee maintenance activities in highly automated areas, including equipment with robotics and automation systems.
• Support and enforce adherence to maintenance standards, procedures, and safety practices across the team.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with union-represented maintenance employees, fostering a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Use analytical and critical thinking skills to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Leverage maintenance and workforce systems, such as Kronos (if applicable), to support scheduling, tracking, and reporting of maintenance activities.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a supervisor, preferably in a maintenance or manufacturing environment.
• 5-7 years of experience reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
• Hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Proven ability to manage and lead breakdown situations, including rapid troubleshooting and resolution of equipment issues.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance programs.
• Technical and working knowledge of robotics and automation systems, particularly in a heavily automated environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Proven capability to work with and manage diverse teams, including mechanics and electricians.
• Strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems.
• Ability to interpret and work from electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
• Experience working in a unionized environment and the ability to build relationships with union employees.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Fanuc robots in a production or maintenance environment.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley systems and controls.
• Experience using Kronos or similar workforce or timekeeping systems is preferred.
• Experience conducting checks, tests, and evaluations on automated equipment.
• Prior exposure to OEM manufacturing environments with high levels of automation.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams and clearly convey technical information.

Work Environment
This is a fully on-site role within an automotive manufacturing plant, with openings in areas such as general assembly, body shop, and paint shop. The facility operates at a very fast pace, where equipment uptime is critical and any downtime is treated as an emergency situation. The environment is heavily automated, with extensive use of Fanuc robots and automation systems, and all equipment maintenance is performed in-house rather than contracted out. You will work closely with union-represented mechanics and electricians, so building and maintaining strong relationships within a union environment is essential. The setting involves working around industrial machinery, robotics, and automated production lines, requiring adherence to plant safety procedures and operational standards
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring Hill, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
