8a-5p Monday-Friday, with call coverage one weekend a month for the hospital

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to join our academically focused and team-oriented echo lab at Duke Health Lake Norman Heart and Vascular Clinic. As a member of our team, you'll perform advanced cardiovascular imaging across ambulatory and inpatient settings.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform a variety of echocardiographic procedures, including 2D, 3D, Doppler, Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Stress Echos, and strain imaging in both routine and emergency settings.
• Deliver services across ambulatory clinics, inpatient floors, ICU, and procedural areas.
• Evaluate pathology following current ASE, ACC, and lab-specific guidelines.
• Analyze patient medical records to obtain history and inform tailored imaging.
• Operate and maintain advanced ultrasound equipment, report malfunctions, and perform preventive maintenance.
• Prepare preliminary reports and compare with previous studies to assist interpretation by cardiologists.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and IAC-Echo reaccreditation processes.
• Educate and mentor students, nurses, fellows, and new staff as needed.
• Attend required staff meetings and pursue ongoing professional development and continuing education.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience

• Level I: Experience working as a Cardiac Sonographer required.
• Level II: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
• Level III: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.

Licensure and Certification

• ARDMS or CCI certification in Adult Echocardiography.
• BLS certification (required).
