IT Business Analyst

Talascend is currently seeking an IT Business Analyst for a contract opportunity with our client in Herndon, Virginia .


Overview


An experienced IT Business Analyst with strong infrastructure knowledge is needed to support analysis, design, and implementation of IT solutions aligned with business and operational needs. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders across IT, operations, and external partners to deliver efficient and scalable infrastructure-related solutions.


Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, particularly on infrastructure-related topics
• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements
• Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications
• Contribute to the design of IT infrastructure solutions (networks, servers, cloud, security, etc.)
• Participate in system architecture discussions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards
• Support project delivery, including planning, testing, and deployment phases
• Identify risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities related to IT infrastructure
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to infrastructure and applications
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, and presentations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, ideally in infrastructure or technical environments
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure concepts (networking, servers, virtualization, cloud platforms, cybersecurity)
• Experience working with technical teams (system engineers, network engineers, etc.)
• Experience with data analysis tools or reporting platforms
• Ability to analyze complex systems and translate technical information into business-friendly language
• Ability to design and maintain application flow matrices (application mapping, data flows, and system interactions)
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile / Waterfall)
• Experience in industrial environments (IT/OT, SCADA, MES, PLC integration) is a plus
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred
• Understanding of ITIL practices or IT service management is preferred
