Director, Systems Engineering - ENT R&D

Medtronic seeks a Director of Systems Engineering to lead the ENT R&D organization in Jacksonville. This role oversees the design, integration, and lifecycle management of complex medical device systems while building and scaling a high-performing engineering team across hardware, software, and firmware disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead, build, and scale a high-performing Systems Engineering organization with hiring and succession planning
• Develop systems engineering capabilities and drive consistent application of design and systems engineering best practices
• Define ENT platform and system architecture strategy in collaboration with marketing and clinical experts
• Lead systems engineering execution across therapy delivery systems, devices, and accessories with cross-functional integration
• Mentor engineering talent and serve as a transformational leader advancing organizational effectiveness and R&D collaboration

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 10 years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 8 years relevant experience
• 7 years of managerial experience
• Strong foundation in systems engineering disciplines across electrical, mechanical, biomedical, and software domains
• Experience developing and delivering highly complex, high-reliability systems in regulated environments
• Medical device industry experience with Class I, II, or III regulated products preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, matrixed teams across engineering, clinical, and commercial functions
• Strong business acumen with executive presence and data-driven decision-making capabilities
