Open Rank Search in Plant Evolution and Director of the UT-Austin Plant Resources Center

The Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin seeks to fill an

open rank faculty position to serve as the Director of the Billie L. Turner Plant Resources

Center (PRC). Tenured applicants are preferred, but assistant professors with several years

in rank will also be considered.

The PRC has a world-class plant collection of 1.1 million specimens in two herbaria, TEX

and LL ( and is a part of the Biodiversity

Center ( within the Department of Integrative Biology. The

successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate exemplary leadership of the PRC in

biodiversity programming. The PRC has three fulltime staff and several large endowments

that secure its future funding. Eligible candidates, depending on rank, will be nominated to be

the holder or fellow of the Sidney F. and Doris Blake Centennial Professorship in Systematic

Botany.

We prefer candidates with an outstanding record of research that demonstrates innovation

in addressing fundamental questions in biodiversity and evolution of plants. Applicants

should have a demonstrated successful career, including influential publications,

extramural research funding, a commitment to excellent teaching, and experience in

herbarium administration and/or collections-based research. We are particularly

interested in candidates whose research, teaching and graduate student/postdoctoral

training programs actively engage with our plant collections and leverage the

opportunities offered by our associated field stations (
