Classification and Pay Analyst Department: Department of General Services (DGS) Classification: Analyst II (JC-516567) Salary: $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 per month (minimum salary for new to state candidates) Work Term: 12‑month limited term (may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent) Work Location: West Sacramento, CA. Telework: up to three days per week. Final Filing Date: 5/12/2026 Responsibilities Under general direction of the Supervisor I in the Classification and Pay Unit, the Analyst II will: Provide technical expertise, training, guidance, and support to assigned DGS programs. Perform complex analytical and technical classification, hiring, and certification assignments using independent judgment. Interpret and apply state civil service laws, rules, regulations, and departmental policies related to classification, hiring, and selection. Deliver a high level of customer service and recommend innovative solutions to meet departmental and customer needs. Prioritize workload to meet critical deadlines. Qualifications Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications specified in the Classification Specification. Desired qualifications include: Experience in classification and pay. Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying personnel laws, policies, and processes. Experience working cooperatively with control agencies to meet organizational needs. Ability to resolve complex operational issues. Experience developing and implementing HR policies and practices across multiple locations. Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral form.
