Position Details Job Title: Medical Receptionist (Patient Coordinator) Company: Eye Clinics of Michigan Location: On‑site at our office in Brownstown, MI Travel: Travel to our other offices in Wayne, Wyandotte and Dearborn, MI is required as needed. Mileage reimbursement is provided. This is a full‑time, long‑term position. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate students looking for only a summer job or that would need to work part‑time during the school year. Requirements High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Favorable result on Background Check Basic computer skills Excitement to learn and grow Essential Functions Verify medical and vision insurances Effectively communicate with patients, doctors and managers Answer inquiries through phone, email and in‑person requests Summary A Patient Coordinator is trained to act as the first point of contact for our patients. They set the tone for the patient’s visit through excellent patient care and perform the necessary administrative responsibilities to create a smooth check‑in/out experience for patients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone). Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave. Answer phones (both external and internal); assure prompt, courteous service at all times. Practice urgency with patients’ time, doctors’ time and schedule. Manage patient flow in the office. Know common fees charged for common visits and collect correct payments. Complete daily reconciliations/close day/countdown cash drawer. Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by manager. Qualifications Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times. Desire to gain industry knowledge and training. Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals. Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change. Consistently creates a positive work environment by being team‑oriented and patient‑focused. Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business. Reliable transportation that allows employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice. Education and/or Experience Minimum Required: High school diploma or GED. Minimum Required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licenses and Credentials None required. Systems and Technology Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Physical Requirements Require frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping and reaching (25–50%). Lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time.
