Quick Facts Location: Springfield, Ohio (100 Medical Center Drive, Springfield, OH 45504) Start Date: 05/28/2026 Duration: Ongoing for at least 2 months, with potential for sporadic coverage afterward Shift: Call coverage (hours vary) Hours/week: As needed Employment Type: Locum/Contract License/Certifications: Valid Ohio medical license; board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery required Experience: Proven experience in adult cardiothoracic and vascular surgery Pay & Benefits Hourly Pay Rate: $19.50/hour Additional Benefits: Weekly pay via direct deposit Comprehensive medical benefits (W-2) Paid sick time (per applicable laws) Licensure, certification, travel, and incidental reimbursements Robust referral bonus program 24/7 dedicated support team from VHS What You’ll Do Provide adult cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass, valve repair/replacement, and aneurysm repairs Perform congenital defect corrections, lung resections (including VATs), chest wall/pleural surgeries, and esophageal/diaphragm surgeries Conduct carotid and renal endarterectomies, ventilation management, and bronchoscopy procedures Manage emergent cases related to vascular and thoracic pathologies Collaborate with onsite lab and x-ray services to ensure comprehensive patient care Document procedures and patient interactions using EPIC system Support hospital staff with surgical consultations and follow-up care What You Need Required: Valid Ohio medical license Board certification in cardiothoracic surgery Minimum of 2+ years of relevant surgical experience Proficiency in general and specialized CV/Thoracic/vascular procedures Preferred: Experience working in high-volume hospital settings Familiarity with EPIC documentation system Strong communication and teamwork skills About the Assignment Join a full-service acute care hospital with 250 beds, including 60 ICU beds, situated in Springfield, OH. This assignment is in response to an urgent staffing need caused by medical emergency coverage gaps. The facility offers onsite lab and x-ray services, empowering surgeons to deliver high-quality, timely care for adult cardiovascular and thoracic patients.
