Primary Responsibilities:Works collaboratively with various functional departments and individuals at various levels of the organization to provide related coordination and support in accordance with the Mission and Values of the companyRespect confidentiality and maintain confidences as described in the UHG Employee Handbook and acknowledged through signature by all employees. The ability to maintain confidentiality is a critical and essential component of this positionUses organizational and project management skills to coordinate department projects related to compliance, quality, and operational excellence. Sets timelines, facilitates meetings, and tracks deliverables. Coordinates a variety of projects related to CMS and other regulatory/contractual requirements, vendor oversight, auditing and Medicare program managementCoordinates or provides implementation of necessary documentation and training, including drafting internal and external communication. Creates PowerPoint presentations as well as other educational presentations for use with providers, community partners, vendors and internal staffReviews department processes as assigned to identify changes needed to comply with regulatory or accreditation requirements. Utilizes independent thought to research, organize, and evaluate data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Provides findings to management and may make recommendations based upon findings to improve or correct department and/or interdepartmental work flows, methods, processes and/or procedures. Frequently explains detailed information, using tact and diplomacy to resolve disputed itemsUtilizes Excel and other database programs to input, update, verify, track, and maintain data. Examines and manipulates data to produce reports that are summarized by a variety of variables. Creates, modifies, validates, or generates scheduled and ad hoc reports and illustrative diagrams. Transmits data to appropriate departments or individuals within established guidelines and timeframesPartners with other departments to ensure that the reporting needs of the department are fully supported and that data gathered is appropriately and accurately reviewed. Explains findings in a detailed manner, working with appropriate staff to relay all pertinent information. Communicates findings back to the requesting party, to Management Staff and other appropriate personnel with recommendations for corrective actions plan(s)Develops an operational knowledge of management tasks through active participation in the current business environment, and other learning venues, to develop skills that would assist in supporting managementThis position may require travel. Requires independent, reliable, flexible, and on-demand, transportation at the incumbent’s expense for travel between various locations and timely arrival and departure from various locations. If the employee chooses to satisfy this requirement by driving a vehicle, the employee must meet the requirements for Colorado licensure and company requirements for liability insurance coverageYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience3+ years of experience in a role directly managing key aspects of a compliance program3+ years of experience working in a government, legal, healthcare, managed care and/or health insurance environment in a regulatory, privacy or compliance roleExperience managing teams, major program initiatives or working with regulatory agenciesBroad knowledge and experience in: Ability to navigate and influence a complex matrixed environment across UHC, Optum and other delegated entities and drive to resolutionFull COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodationPreferred Qualifcations:Advanced Degree (JD or Master’s)Professional certification (Certified in Healthcare Compliance - CHC or similar)5+ years of Healthcare industry or Healthcare related industry experience and government programsExperience with managed care and/or government programsExperience in a strategic role, ideally leading and/or implementing a comprehensive compliance programSolid skills in: goal(s) setting and works independently to achieve them. Pushes self and others to reach milestonesExcellent skills in: verbal and written communication; problem solvingDemonstrates advanced writing/presentation skills.
