Job Summary

Join our dynamic and fast-paced Emergency Department in Hilo, Hawaii, as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. This 28-bed unit is equipped to handle a wide range of critical and urgent cases, featuring 4 dedicated trauma bays, 2 specialized behavioral health rooms, and 22 cardiac monitor rooms.

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable RN to thrive in a high-volume environment characterized by rapid patient turnover and a strong team-oriented culture. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, compassionate, and efficient care to diverse patient populations presenting with various emergency conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct rapid and comprehensive patient assessments, prioritize care, and implement appropriate interventions for emergency conditions.
• Manage and stabilize critically ill and injured patients, including those requiring trauma care and advanced cardiac life support.
• Provide specialized care for patients experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Operate and monitor emergency medical equipment, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities.

Required Qualifications

• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Active Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Procedural Sedation.
• Certification in Trauma Management Core Course (TMCC).
• Certification in Emergency Medical Pediatric Course (EMPC).

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in emergency assessment, intervention, and stabilization techniques for diverse patient populations.
• Expertise in cardiac monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and management of cardiac emergencies.
• Ability to manage trauma patients, including initial assessment, stabilization, and preparation for further treatment.
• Competence in managing behavioral health emergencies and de-escalation techniques.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and patient interaction.
• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with rapid patient turnover.
