Judicial Case Manager I

Summary Statement This is the entry level of caseload management work learning the legal processes and procedures and case management functions while performing the full range of case management activities for Landlord Tenant cases as part of the newly created Eviction Diversion program at the Justice of the Peace Court. Career Ladder Upon satisfactory completion of department promotional standards and job requirements, employees may be eligible to be promoted to the next level. Essential Functions Employees perform the full range of Essential Functions, including routine and standardized assignments, under close supervision. Receives close supervision from a technical supervisor; the supervisor provides specific instructions on all assignments, and frequent and detailed review of progress, accuracy, and quality of work. Supervisory advice or assistance is readily available. Conducts routine judicial case management work and assists with more complex caseloads. Seeks guidance from higher-level staff on work that is outside a range of specified, acceptable procedures, standards, alternatives, and practices. Participates in formal and on-the-job training to develop knowledge of judicial case management principles, court operations, and applicable rules, procedures, and case processing requirements. Learns and applies case management practices and techniques, such as case type identification, case flow management, courtroom processes, procedures and protocols, management of legal and court records, review of filings for procedural compliance, preparation of judicial orders, event tracking and monitoring, and caseload management. Identifies problems with documents and case files, alerts supervisor, and assists in correcting and locating related information, files, and documents. Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, judicial officers, court users, justice partners, and members of the public to gather and provide information on cases and respond to procedural questions. Job Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS for Judicial Case Manager I Six months' experience in managing cases as they move through the legal process. Six months' experience in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Six months' experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data. Knowledge of narrative report writing.
