Position Summary

The Extra Help Medical Office Assistant is responsible for receptionist duties for all staff, patients and visitors in the Department of Surgery in the Vascular Surgery Unit. This is an extra help vacancy that will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Administrative Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support on various administrative/organizational matters.
• Answers, screens, and routes telephone inquiries to appropriate party.
• Assist in special projects and essential programs, including complex scheduling for meetings/events.
• Performs data entry, assuring accuracy of data entered.
• Monitors and updates comprehensive patient records.
• Opens and distributes mail; transmits correspondence and medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax.
• Operates office equipment such as copiers, voice mail messaging systems, and uses word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records. Orders and maintains clerical supplies.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
