Position Details Job Code: JC-522086 Position #: View phone number on click.appcast.io-XXX Job Title: Bridge Maintenance Crew Liaison Classification: CALTRANS MAINTENANCE AREA SUPERINTENDENT Salary: $7,306.00 - $9,068.00 Number of Positions: Multiple Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Job Description & Duties Under the general direction of Maintenance Safety Equipment and Training, Training Office Chief, this position is responsible for providing statewide training and technical support for bridge and structural maintenance operations by coordinating and delivering hands‑on instruction and classroom training for new and existing staff. The role conducts regular field performance reviews, supports Bridge Crew Supervisors and Structure Maintenance & Investigations (SM&I) engineers through guidance on crew capabilities, work recommendations, and data‑driven decision‑making, and ensures safe and effective execution of work by leading specialized safety training for high‑risk environments and directing crew coordination, logistics, and communication during emergency structural events. Special Requirements Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required; failure to submit a Statement of Qualifications will disqualify candidates from the hiring process. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, 12‑point Arial font, and must address the following questions in order: Describe your experience performing or overseeing bridge maintenance and repair operations on various structure types (e.g., steel, concrete, timber, culverts, tunnels, overhead structures). Include specific examples of the techniques, materials, tools, and safety measures used. Explain how you have trained others in complex bridge repair or maintenance procedures. Include examples of developing hands‑on training, demonstrating correct repair techniques, correcting unsafe or ineffective practices, or conducting field evaluations. Provide an example where you encountered a difficult or unusual bridge maintenance or repair situation in the field. Explain how you assessed the condition, selected the appropriate repair method or materials, and ensured the work met safety and operational standards. Describe your experience providing or using specialized safety training such as confined space, fall protection, or lift/hoist operations. Include any relevant certifications you hold or have maintained. Qualifications Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent exam. Applicants must be on the state examination list to be eligible.
