What You'll Do Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and requirements. Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work and entering them into the computer estimating system; review the estimate printout for accuracy and completeness. Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes; review quotes for completeness according to plans and specifications. Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages, including sub‑contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies. Provide guidance to personnel preparing the completion matrix discipline for assigned bids. In conjunction with Senior Estimators, develop labor productivity and installation unit costs where applicable based on projected site conditions and historical data. Compile and execute the scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing, then present them to the Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, or Chief Estimator for the estimated bid package. After the successful bid, at project turnover, meet with the project management team and the senior‑level estimator to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes, and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project. Responsible for the timely completion of all client‑required documents. Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates. Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating assumptions and methodologies. The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. What You'll Need to Be Successful Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control. Interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems. Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating. Read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front‑end documents. Identify and meet customers' needs, expectations, and requirements. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary. Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Oral and written communication skills as required for the position. Self‑motivated and can work independently and as part of a team. Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, and staff, vendors, clients, and others. What You Bring to Us Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction. Proficient in Accubid estimating. Proficient in CAD or 3D software preferred. Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Travel Up to 10% Working Conditions General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the job site.
