Lead Site Reliability Engineer - Ceph Storage

Role Description
Join GoDaddy's Global Storage Engineering team, which operates one of the largest Ceph environments in the world. This remote position allows you to work from home while occasionally visiting a GoDaddy office for team events or meetings.
As a Lead Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll serve as one of the principal technical leaders for GoDaddy's Ceph platform. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and architecting large-scale production Ceph clusters.
- Leading fleet-wide capacity planning, performance modeling, and hardware qualification.
- Owning major platform upgrades and migration initiatives.
- Driving resolution of complex cross-functional production incidents.
- Establishing automation, operational standards, and reliability practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years designing, operating, and scaling distributed storage platforms.
- Expert-level Ceph knowledge including CRUSH maps, placement groups, and OSD architecture.
- Proven experience in designing storage architectures and performing capacity planning.
- Experience leading major storage platform upgrades and migrations.
- Strong automation and software engineering skills using Python and/or Go.
Requirements
- Deep expertise with advanced Ceph technologies including RGW Multisite and RBD Mirroring.
- OpenStack storage architecture experience including Cinder and Swift integrations.
- Kubernetes storage expertise involving CSI drivers and stateful workloads.
- Experience evaluating and integrating large-scale storage technologies.
- Contributions to the Ceph community through development and architecture discussions.
