Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $88,500.00 - $134,750.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Integrity, Quality Assurance & Remediation
· Lead recurring audits of constituent, gift, prospect, campaign, event, and other Development data; determine materiality, prioritize issues, assign remediation ownership, and approve or direct remediation plans.
· Perform hands-on review, investigation, correction, and cleanup of high-priority data issues, including duplicate records, incomplete or inconsistent coding, address quality, deceased-record updates, NCOA results, and wealth-screening data.
· Establish and maintain the data-hygiene calendar, quality-control checkpoints, escalation thresholds, and measures for monitoring accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and uniqueness.
· Make decisions on data-quality exceptions and remediation methods, escalating issues that require director-level, executive, legal, compliance, information-security, or enterprise-system decisions.
· Conduct root-cause analysis and direct preventive controls, revised procedures, training, or system requirements to reduce recurrence.
· Maintain a prioritized remediation backlog, monitor work assigned to Data Services resources, and report trends, risks, progress, and unresolved impacts to the Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Insights.
Data Standards, Business Rules & Documentation
· Own the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Development data dictionary, business glossary, metadata standards, and approved data definitions.
· Develop, approve within delegated authority, and enforce business rules, coding standards, naming conventions, field requirements, and data-maintenance procedures.
· Resolve conflicting definitions and practices across Development functions and recommend decisions to the Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Insights, AVP, or Data Governance Committee when broader approval is required.
· Ensure approved definitions and business rules are consistently reflected in operating procedures, training, analytics requirements, reporting specifications, and quality controls.
· Maintain version history, decision records, governance documentation, and standard operating procedures for material data definitions and business rules.
Data Governance & Data Stewardship
· Own the operational implementation, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Development data governance framework under the sponsorship of the AVP and direction of the Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Insights.
· Define and maintain data-owner and data-steward responsibilities for key data domains, including decision rights, quality expectations, exception handling, and escalation paths.
· Prepare governance recommendations, standards, and decision items for consideration by the Data Governance Committee.
· Facilitate substantive governance discussions and ensure approved decisions are translated into standards, procedures, controls, documentation, training, and assigned remediation work.
· Monitor adherence to approved data standards and stewardship responsibilities and hold business and operational partners accountable for corrective actions.
· Partner with fundraising and portfolio leaders to ensure data standards support business needs without compromising data integrity or reporting reliability.
Analytics, CRM & Cross-Functional Impact
· Partner with the Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Insights and Analytics Operations to ensure KPI definitions, reporting calculations, and official reporting products are supported by consistent source data, approved business rules, and documented data standards.
· Partner with Development Systems to define data-quality controls and governance requirements for imports, integrations, conversions, global changes, and proposed CRM changes.
· Assess the downstream impact of proposed or existing data practices on donor communications, prospect and portfolio management, campaign and gift reporting, executive dashboards, financial reconciliation, and organizational decision-making.
· Partner with Analytics & Insights to reconcile source-system data with dashboards and reports and determine whether issues originate in source data, business rules, transformations, or reporting logic.
· Partner with Gift Administration on gift-related data quality, documentation, coding standards, controls, and audit readiness.
· Work with Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Insights in presenting information to Information Technology, Information Security, Compliance, Finance, or Legal when matters require institutional expertise or approval.
Training, Adoption & Continuous Improvement
· Develop and deliver initial and recurring training on data standards, business rules, data stewardship responsibilities, and common data-quality risks.
· Partner with fundraising, portfolio, analytics, and operational leaders to ensure training reflects relevant business processes and use cases.
· Use audit findings, recurring errors, and process exceptions to identify targeted training, workflow, documentation, or control improvements.
· Serve as the authoritative resource for Development staff on data definitions, quality expectations, governance requirements, and data stewardship responsibilities.
· Promote a culture in which staff understand their accountability for data quality and the downstream business impact of inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistently maintained data.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's degree required; degree in information management, data analytics, business, information systems, or a related field preferred.
· Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in data quality, data governance, data stewardship, CRM data management, advancement services, fundraising operations, or a related discipline.
· Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional data-quality or governance work, making decisions on standards or remediation, and driving corrective actions without direct reporting authority.
· Hands-on experience auditing, investigating, correcting, and improving complex data in a CRM or enterprise data environment.
· Experience developing and maintaining business rules, data definitions, standards, procedures, and governance documentation.
· Experience providing functional direction or assigning work across teams without direct supervisory authority.
· Experience with Raiser's Edge NXT or a comparable fundraising CRM preferred.
· Experience in healthcare, higher education, nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, or another complex data environment preferred.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data-preparation or business-intelligence tools preferred.

· Execution and Follow-Through: Personally completes critical work when needed, directs remediation activities, maintains visibility into progress, and ensures issues are resolved rather than only identified.
· Collaboration and Customer Orientation: Builds strong partnerships across Data & Insights, Development Systems, Gift Administration, fundraising, Finance, Information Technology, Information Security, Compliance, and other stakeholder groups.
