Teaching Lab Technician Chemistry

Teaching Lab Technician The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is looking for a Teaching Lab Tech for our undergraduate teaching labs. This tech will work with a current team of other Techs in a dynamic group supporting numerous students per semester. The position requires successful teamwork and an excitement for an academic environment. Student support is essential. Preparing chemicals, lab equipment, and student drawers for teaching lab. Maintaining laboratory facilities, instrumentation, and stockroom for experiments. Planning laboratory exercises with faculty. Testing and conducting experiments, exercises, instrumentation, and demonstrations. Providing technical assistance to staff and teaching assistants concerning experimental preparations and procedures. Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards of laboratory operations. Managing the working schedule: variable and negotiable with the supervisor; evenings required; overtime periodically. ****The final salary for this position is dependent upon total Education and Experience**** Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or Bio-Chem preferred. Experience working in and providing technical support for an undergraduate teaching lab. Experience preparing chemical solutions and setting up experiments for undergraduate teaching labs. Experience managing undergraduate teaching lab facilities.
