Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU (CVICU/CTICU)

Contract | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Weekdays, Every Other Weekend, Holidays Within Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to post-operative CABG, NSTEMI, STEMI, Acute Coronary, and CHF adult patients in a CVICU/CTICU setting
• Manage and monitor hemodynamic devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines, and FloTrac/Vigileo systems
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; administer and manage continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation
• Care for ventilated patients including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning, BiPAP/CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Provide stepdown-level care under a universal bed model, supporting patients from ICU level through discharge
• Perform arterial line, central line, and PICC line management; administer blood products; manage surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVICU or CTICU setting
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records — no exceptions
• Strong neurological nursing experience required, including post-brain surgery care, EVD/ventriculostomy management, and CVA/acute stroke management

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols), chronic/acute renal failure management, accessing ports, external ventricular drains (EVD), and ICP monitoring
• Familiarity with CVVHD/CRRT and IV insulin protocols
